We are a Ship Management Company, wholly-owned by Performance Shipping Inc., providing in-house commercial and technical management services of the highest standard to the Company. We are focused on conducting our operations in a manner that is devoted to safety, human health, quality, and environmental protection.
Claims and Insurance
The Claims and Insurance Department is responsible for maintaining insurance, such as hull and machinery insurance, war risks insurance, protection and indemnity cover, increased value insurance, and freight, demurrage and defence cover for the company’s managed fleet in amounts that we believe to be prudent to cover reasonable risks in our operations. This is a vital function, as the operation of any tanker vessel entails risks such as mechanical failure, collision, property loss, cargo loss or damage, business interruption due to political circumstances in foreign countries, hostilities and labor actions. In addition, there is always an inherent possibility of marine disasters, including oil spills and other environmental mishaps, and related liabilities arising from owning and operating ocean-going vessels in international trade. The Claims and Insurance Department focuses on preventing, handling, negotiating, and processing claims in the most efficient and timely manner, while also obtaining the very best possible security at the most advantageous terms. Such security includes cover within the world's leading insurance markets, utilizing the services of leading risk consultants and insurance brokers where necessary.
Crew
Our Crew Department is responsible for the manning of our vessels, according to international regulations and charterers’ requirements, with qualified and competent officers, who are hired by the vessels’ owning subsidiaries. We pride ourselves on our commitment to fair remuneration and the ongoing training of our shipboard personnel. Continuous training, as well as performance appraisals, allow us to maintain quality manpower onboard our vessels. An independent manning agency is also used to refer officers and seamen.

Operations and Chartering
Our Operations Department is the heart of the management company and the focal point of all actions necessary to running our vessels. Essentially, the department is the main coordinator between the owners of the vessels, the company’s departments, the managed vessels, the charterers, and all third parties involved with the ships (ship agents, ship-chandlers, bunkering suppliers, shippers, receivers, stevedores, etc.). Among other things, the Operations Department is charged with providing post-fixture support to the vessels, issuing voyage instructions, making sure that the vessels perform as per charterparty agreements, and ensuring the safe and efficient carriage and delivery of cargoes. In addition, the department supervises the disbursement of all funds necessary to run the ships, arranges for freight/hire/demurrage collection from charterers, and arranges for the provision of bunkers.
Among the key actions supervised by the Operations Department are cargo handling, port activities, pilotage, towage, wharfage, dockage, canal transits, conveying of cargoes, cargo handling arrangements, loading and discharging of vessels. Such hands-on operational involvement ensures that we are constantly aware of and in touch with current market conditions – which is vitally important in maintaining a competitive edge.
Although instructions are provided by the Owners, chartering negotiations are an on-going and dynamic process. Accordingly, the Chartering Department obtains and reviews daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports in order to assess market conditions and identify opportunities. The Chartering Department is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with reputable chartering brokers and various charterers, screening various employment opportunities for our vessels, and takes appropriate actions based on instructions from the Owners, negotiating terms and conditions of the contracts under which the vessels are going to be chartered and eventually entering, on behalf of the Owners, into a chartering agreement.
Technical
Our Technical Department is responsible for ensuring that all managed vessels perform in accordance with Industry regulations, Statutory and Classification Society requirements, the Company’s Management System, and charterers’ requirements at all times.
From the early stages of the pre-purchase condition survey, special attention is given to the maintenance, quality, safety, and the environmental efficiency of the vessels.
The Department is responsible for supervising the efficient operation of all hull, machinery, electrical, and automation equipment on board and keeping standards up by implementing a preventive maintenance policy. The information is recorded, evaluated, and followed by all managed vessels in order to ensure seaworthiness and safety throughout their operational life.
The Technical Dpt is also responsible for the purchase and provision of materials, equipment, spare parts, and services according to specifications, delivery time, and service level. In addition, performance evaluations of goods and service suppliers have been beneficial to the managed vessels’ safety and environmental soundness.
